The Terms of Service

Let's get into the nitty-gritties.

The Key Points

Here's what you really need to know

OCR Service Only
We convert scanned PDFs to searchable text. PDFs only, 50 MB max, credit-based pricing. We do one thing and do it well.
Credits Never Expire
Buy credits once, use them whenever. No refunds on used credits. Partial refunds on unused credits considered case-by-case.
You Own Your Files
Your uploads, your output - all yours. We auto-delete everything from our servers in 24 hours. No exceptions.

What We Do (And What We Don't)

Here's What You Get
SearchAblePDF converts your scanned (image-based) PDFs into searchable, editable documents by adding an invisible text layer to the PDF. It means your old scanned files now have a new life, as you can search through them and even copy text from them.
Our Boundaries
Yes, we do have some limitations, like:

File Type: We support only PDFs. We believe in being the best at one thing rather than being a jack of all trades.
File Size: We recommend limiting PDF files to 50 MB each.
Fair Use: We use a credit system. Visit our pricing page to know more about the credit system.
What You Can't Do Here
We forbid users from using this tool for:

• Anything illegal
• Processing information or images that are copyrighted. Use this tool only with the files you have permission to use.
• Anything that goes against the law or breaks the law in the region you live in.
If You Go Against These Rules
There are repercussions for violating these rules. Here is how things would go in that case:

• First-time errors? You'll be let off with a warning. We understand mistakes can happen.
• Continuous offenders? We'll suspend or terminate your account.
• Fooling around with the billing system? That makes you fit for immediate account termination, no refund.

These are the red lines we draw and expect the users to abide by.

Your Account & Your Data

Keep Your Account Secure
Users Share Some Responsibility, like:

• You should keep your login information private. Don't share it with anyone, including your roommate, relatives, family members, or anyone.
• The data or PDFs you upload are your responsibility.
• You need to ensure you've the legal right to process whatever documents you upload.
Account Rules
• One User One Account: The rule is simple and easy to follow. No multiple accounts.

• Age Requirement: Anyone old enough to have a Google Account can create an account on SearchAblePDF as well.

• Login Activity & Account Safety: We use Google Account Authentication, which helps us maintain the security of your SearchAblePDF account.
Payment Details

Let's Talk About Money

How Credits Work?
SearchAblePDF runs on credits. Conversion of a PDF consumes credits. The exact number of credits depends on various factors like the size of the document, the number of images, and the complexity.
Refund Information
We've kept it simple here.

• Already used credits? No refund in that case. Our OCR has run itself to the ground to convert your file, so that's that.
• Unused credits? We consider those refund requests on a case-by-case basis.
• Unused credits in terminated accounts? No refunds in that case. Sorry! You've been caught with your hand in the cookie jar.
Do Credits Expire?
No. Once you've bought them, you can use them at any time.
Price Changes
We reserve the right to adjust pricing at any time. But here's what we promise:

• You'll receive an email a month in advance about any price increase.
• Changes don't impact the unused credits you already have.
• No sudden surprises!

Legal Protect Stuff

Let's break down the legal mambo-jumbo.

No Guarantees
The tool and the conversion service come "as-is". Our data extraction accuracy and claims are based on past data patterns; however, we can't promise or guarantee anything, as technology is ever-changing.
About OCR Accuracy
Our OCR technology is outstanding, but not perfect. In very rare cases, even the converted PDFs can look a bit weird, hence:

• We don't guarantee 100% accuracy.
• We recommend you check the output file carefully for any errors rather than just forwarding it.
• We're not accountable or responsible for any errors in the converted file or the issues it may cause. We can't be held liable for any problems that arise out of such errors.
We're Not Liable For
We can't be put on the hook for:

• Any lost or corrupted data. Ensure you have a backup of the original files.
• Any inconsistencies or inaccuracies in OCR results or any resultant problems that might cause.
• Any direct or indirect damages, loss, or consequence it causes
• Any amount you've paid us for the conversion of files.

Simply put, we use an OCR to assist you, but we aren't responsible for verifying the results. You need to do that.

Technical Stuff

API Details
API Use:
All API requests must be routed through the official website
Unauthorized workarounds or API use aren't allowed.
Gaming the API system in any way will result in account termination.

Rate Limits:
The rate limit stands at 10 requests per minute per IP address. Irrespective of your history, track record, or identity, this applies to everyone. Trying to game this will result in suspension.
Experimental Magic
We do have a couple of experimental features to make this tool better:

AI-Powered Processing:
We are combining the power of AI with OCR results to ensure even higher accuracy. While it's experimental, we're working on it.

Beta Deal:
• It uses 3X more credits than standard processing.
• Again, this is as-is with no guarantees or promises.
• We can remove this at any time.
• Users can use the experiment features at their own risk, and we can't be held liable for the results or any consequences thereof.
Legal Jurisdiction

Legal Jurisdiction

Disagreement, although rare, can still occur. In that case, we're based out of Maharashtra, India. So the Indian Law, specifically the Maharashtra Jurisdiction, applies.

How Are Disputes Resolved?
If we disagree on something, here's how things would go:

Let's Talk: The first and most friendly way is to talk about it. Mediation is better than legal battles.

Arbitration: If that didn't work, arbitration is the next option under Indian law.

Legal Action: Any legal action can only occur in the courts of Maharashtra.

And before you think of that, remember we aren't responsible for any errors or the accuracy of the OCR output or any problems arising out of the same. Verification of the output files is the user's responsibility.

Let's Tie The Loose Ends

Are Account Transfers Allowed?

No, your account remains yours.

What About Inactive Accounts?

As of now, Inactive Accounts remain around forever. We can make this change later, but all users will be notified in advance if it does.

What About Service Changes?

We may need to modify, pause, or even shut down the service at some point. In the rare event that this happens, you'll get a week's notice via email.

Do These Terms Change?

Yes, we hold the right to change these terms and conditions. In case that happens, we'll email you about any changes in advance. If a user then decides to continue using the service thereafter, it will be considered as acceptance of the new terms and conditions.

Fine Print: The document should be considered as a whole agreement between the user and the tool/company. If any part of it is unenforceable, the remainder of the contract remains valid. Additionally, if we don't enforce this once, it doesn't mean we can't enforce this in the future. We reserve that right.
